Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt
A resurgent Medvedev secured his initial title for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The Russian, a former world number one, has had a difficult year, winning just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.
His varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in especial - led to him falling of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former mentor Cervara.
Now training with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.
This represents his initial championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt after March of 2023.
Success also indicates he has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one different tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to win a trophy is particularly special," commented tennis professional Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event earlier this year.
The player's retrieving strategy and regular outbursts on court had prompted commentators to question if his ability to perform at the elite level was finished.
Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to come to the net and play positively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.
The champion fought back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The pair traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial tour victory, seized the initiative to create a decider.
He defended 4 initial break points in a tight deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to secure the win.
Appropriately, he clinched victory with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
